About the event

Hello all!

Sign up for Groups 1 & 2 halftime participation and instrument rental have closed so the field drill can be set, however band alumni are still welcome to sign up to be part of Group 3 (Field Recognition). If you have any questions, please reach out to us at homecoming@skiumah.org.

Note: Wristbands are REQUIRED to be allowed from the stadium into the marshalling area for halftime!

Rehearsals will be:

  • Thursday 4:15 - 6:00 PM at Gibson-Nagurski (Bierman) Outdoor Field. GROUP 1 ATTENDANCE REQUIRED

  • Saturday 8:30 - 10:30 AM at the indoor Larson Football Performance Center near Bierman. GROUPS 1 & 2 ATTENDANCE REQUIRED. Halftime field access wristbands will be provided to Groups 1 & 2 members at this rehearsal. (Group 3 members are welcome to come watch this rehearsal.)

Note: Parking near these facilities is hard to find due to housing and construction - come early in case you have to park a ways away! (These locations may change if Gopher Athletics makes a last minute update.)

Group 1 (Full Marching) - Group 1 membership involves MARCHING to 1 song followed by a 3-song "park-and-bark" so requires attendance at BOTH the Thursday and Saturday rehearsals.

Group 2 (Traditional Alumni Performers) - Group 2 membership involves counting steps onto the field, a turn, and a performing a 3-song "park-and-bark" so requires attendance at ONLY the Saturday rehearsal.

Group 3 (Field Recognition) - This year, we wanted to include an option to recognize our alumni who would prefer not to play, but would still like to participate and be recognized for their contributions to the University. The lowest time commitment, this group will meet before halftime and walk out on the field to be recognized in front of the playing marching band and alumni members during the 3-song "park-and-bark", similar to the Title IX celebrations. We look forward to showing off our proud band alumni! Note: Be sure to get your wristband as documented in earlier email

Show Time! - For those participating in ANY group:

  • If you are attending the game, when there are 5 minutes left in the 2nd quarter be sure to already be on your way to where you received your wristband (elevator available)

  • If you are participating but not attending the game, be in the Marching Band Main Rehearsal Hall (ramps but no stairs to the field) at 2:45

Logistics, music, and rehearsal details for each group have been sent out. If you have any additional questions, please reach out to us at homecoming@skiumah.org. Additionally, please email us if you would like to play the big drum this year!
