It's time once again for the spectacle that is the Minnesota State Fair, and the Alumni Band has been asked to perform at the U. of M. Stage.

Three dates have been set for us: Sunday, August 29; Monday, August 30; and Wednesday, September 1.  Please note these corrected dates - we are not performing on the 26th or 28th.  We will be playing twice each of those days, from 9:30-10:00 a.m. to open the stage program in the morning, and from 4:00-4:30 p.m. to close in the afternoon.

(Update - 7/13/10)  Thank you to everyone who has submitted a proposal to the Band Alumni Society's Executive Council for a new 4^th year marching band lithograph.  The council has now closed the request for any further submissions, and is in the process of selecting from the proposals that have been received.

In 1995, the Band Alumni commissioned an artwork, reproduced as lithographs, to award marching band members who have completed their 4^th year in the band.  We have been giving these lithographs out for about 15 years, and have come to the end of the original supply.  We definitely want to continue honoring those students in this way.  While we could reprint the original artwork, our intent was to reflect the spirit of the students in band - with an expectation that a given visual would last about 10 years.  So, it’s time for a new artwork.  Our goal is to have new lithographs printed by the 2010 Marching Band Banquet in the first week of December.

The Spring 2010 issue of the Quarternote, the newsletter of the Band Alumni Society, is now available.

Alumni Mentorship Program - The Band Alumni Society is sponsoring a Mentorship Program for the U. of M. Marching and Concert Bands. As noted, "Not only can we provide guidance to band members, we can build a personal relationship between the Band Alumni Society and the Band Programs that will encourage graduates to join us in our mission in the future."  More information will be available here at www.skiumah.org later this summer.
