As a strictly non-profit organization, the Band Alumni Society is dependent on a strong group of volunteers and donors as well as the ongoing support of the U. of M. Alumni Association. If you would like to do your part to ensure that we remain vibrant and successful in our mission to support U of M Bands, please consider giving your time or financial resources to the Band Alumni Society.

Join the Band Alumni Society!

 The first and best step you can take to support the Band Alumni Society and U of M Bands is to join the Band Alumni Society through the University of Minnesota Alumni Association. Click here to find out how you can join!

By joining the UMAA and specifying the Band Alumni as a society of interest, part of your membership dues will go toward supporting our organization. Use the special code NP3BD when you join and the Band Alumni Society will get a bonus from the UMAA!  You can be assured this is money well spent - over 95% of the funds we recieve go directly toward supporting University of Minnesota Bands through scholarships and student-oriented events. We also keep Band Alumni Society members well-informed of Minnesota Bands events and opportunities, so you'll always know the latest happenings and how you can be involved.

Volunteer!

The Band Alumni Society is dependent on volunteers to function. Volunteers are always welcome to help organize events, run the Band Alumni Society, or just show up and play at events. Pep fests, summer band, or a Gopher alum's retirement party, there are constant opportunities to play your instrument. However you can donate time, there is an event that needs it!

If you would like to consider joining the Alumni Band Executive Council, visit the library to read more about what positions exist and what is involved in serving as a council member in each position. This is one of the best ways for volunteers to ensure the future success of the organization.

Homecoming, Summer Band, and many other events require organization effort. There are many playing events throughout the year that require musicians. The Homecoming parade and picnic band in the fall, U of M Athletic Pep Band events over Winter Break, the UMAA Annual Meeting in the Spring, and our Summer Community Band are all open to anyone willing to play and are fun ways to keep playing your instrument.
